1. About us

Tectonic Maps is a sole trader business based in Bristol, UK, designing and 3D printing custom topographic route maps. By placing an order on tectonicmaps.com you enter into a contract with us governed by these terms.

The legal name and full business address of the sole trader behind Tectonic Maps are provided on order confirmations and invoices, and are available on request by emailing hello@tectonicmaps.com.

2. Orders

An order is accepted when we send you an order confirmation email. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order before that confirmation is sent — for example if a route cannot be processed, an item is mispriced, or we suspect fraudulent activity.

3. Pricing & payment

All prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Payment is taken at checkout via PayPal. Until payment is confirmed your map is not queued for production.

4. Production & delivery

Each map is handcrafted to order. We aim to print, frame, and dispatch within 5–7 working days of order confirmation. Delivery in the UK is typically 2–3 working days after dispatch via Royal Mail tracked. Delivery times outside the UK vary.

5. Returns and refunds

Most of our products are bespoke. A product is treated as bespoke if it is made to order from your personal data (such as a GPX route) or includes any personalised content (such as a custom title, name, date, or message). Bespoke products are not covered by the standard 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Some products may be sold as standard, non-personalised items (for example, pre-designed city maps with no custom text). For these products, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the item under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, provided the item is returned unused and in its original condition. To cancel, email hello@tectonicmaps.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number.

For bespoke products, we offer a goodwill returns policy: if you're not happy with your map for any reason, you can return it within 14 days of receiving it for a full refund. To start a return, email hello@tectonicmaps.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number.

In both cases, we'll send return instructions and cover the return postage. Returned items must come back in their original condition and packaging. Once the item arrives back with us, we'll process your refund within 5 working days to your original payment method.

This policy does not affect your statutory rights as a UK consumer.

6. Faulty or incorrect items

If your map arrives damaged, has a manufacturing defect, or doesn't match the preview you approved, please contact us at hello@tectonicmaps.com within a reasonable time of discovery. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund, and we'll work with you to find the best resolution. The 14-day goodwill return window does not apply to faulty items.

7. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of any GPX route data you upload. By placing an order you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use the data for the sole purpose of producing your map. We will not publish, share, or reuse your route data without your permission.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law. Subject to that, our liability for any single order is limited to the price you paid for it.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
